Vision & mission

The main motto of Sri Sellakaliamman Village Development Foundation is bridging the information and technology divide between rich and poor largely unskilled rural women and men to overcome the problems of poverty, illiteracy and ill health.

Establishment

Though central and state governments implementing various schemes to uplift the rural poor, the poverty is still continuing. Because, most of the people living in India have no enough hold, up to their self-support to improve their present status and changing their lifestyle. In view of the fact, that the reduction of rural poverty through education, information and livelihoods promotion has been a unifying goal. Hence, we organized a system with some programs on ‘On & Off-farm activities’ blending the modern technologies with traditional one and also transferring the existing adoptive technologies. To reach the unifying goal, initially like tailoring and knowledge centre with computer facilities to help people access opportunities and rights to improve their lives has been initiated at one village as entry-point activity to get proper understanding with villagers and to change their life style later. Mostly our SVD Foundation is concentrated on development oriented activities and giving education to rural poor. For these purpose the SVD Foundation was organized as trust on 01.01.2014 and registered on 19.02.2014 at Chidambaram, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu, India.

Goal

Generating and implementing site-specific, people-centered activities among under-privileged section of people as a partner to eliminate and reduce poverty, illiteracy, ill-health, increase their existing income and ensure sustainable development through education, training and On and Off farm livelihood based Income Generating interventions.
